Ceramics
The collection of ceramics is in room No. 8A.
A lot of Bancharong ceramics are displayed. Bencharong
(five colour wares) is enamelware made in China from the
17th to 19th centuries to Thai designs.

A Bencharong bowl with curving sides and a slightly
flared rim. The exterior is enameled with a repetitive
design consisting of two mythical figures and a fire
pattern on a black ground.
Ceramic3.jpg (13885 bytes) A Bencharong toh (water) jar.
The oval-shaped, lobed body
stands on a pedestal. Height
is added by the conical-shaped
cover with jeweled tip. The
white background on the
exterior is decorated with a
vertical panel design consisting
of birds and flowers in famille
verte colors. A border of lotus
panels encircles the pedestal.
