The archaeological site at Ban Prasat is located Ban Prasat Tai,
Non Sang District, 45 kms from Nakhon Ratchasima city.

How to get there :
Follow highway No.2, Nakhon Ratchasima - Phimai section, and
at km 45 there is a sign indicating Ban Prasat Archaeological
Site, turn left for about 2 kms then we will see the Thai style
building in the middle of the road junction. This building is now
the museum.
Attractions :
Excavation Pit No.1 (the depth 3.5 - 4.5 meters)
Prehistoric period (about 3,000 years ago). There are lie
human skeletons and various kinds of artifact including an
ancient weapon, hugh animal bones, ornaments made of
animal bones and shells, and an ancient axe-like weapon.

Excavation Pit No.2 (the depth 2.3 - 3.9 meters)
Dvarvati period (1,600 - 1,800 years ago).
There are
ancient bronz weapons such as a sharp lance-like weapon,
stone beads of many strange colors, red and black painted
pottery with incised decoration, as well as gold wrist and
ankle bracelets.
Excavation Pit No.3 (the depth 1.5 - 2.0 meters)
600 years ago and up to now. The discoveries included a
kiln and color glazed pottery of mixed Khmer and modern
styles, containers similar to those of modern time, as well
as swords and weapons like those of contemporary period.


The Ban Prasat site is believed to be an agricultural
community of pre-historic period in the southern part of
the present Northeast Thailand with its own typical
civilization differing from that of Ban Chiang (Udon Thani
Province), which dated back some 500 - 1,000 years
younger.
